House League Coach Certifications
All house league coaches need to have their proper certification prior to the first game in September.
The OMHA requires assistant coaches to have only need Speak Out, however the AMHL is moving towards ensuring our assistant coaches have the same certifications as head coaches (effective next year). If you are planning to be an assistant coach on a go forward basis, we suggest that you get it now (and of course head coaches need it). If your team is going into a tournament this year, assistants need the full coaching certification.
Trainers need the trainer certification & Speak Out. Normally we’ve had a grace period but that is no longer the case. If you don’t find the clinics you need on the OMHA website you can take certifications through Alliance or the OWHA and the OMHA will transfer them over. These clinics are filling up – please sign up now before your team has no coach or trainer to start the season!
First games will be around September 23/24th….more details coming soon. If you have any questions about certifications, please direct them to Director of Coach & Player Development, John Alpaugh at jlalpaugh@yahoo.com
2011/2012 Coach Certification Reimbursements
Coaches will get reimbursed for certifications relevant to the divisions they are rostered in for this season. Upon satisfactory completion of a course coaches can scan and email the receipt to jodi.rainford@gmail.com. Once received Jodi will compile all data and compare it to our rosters to get payments processed once the season is underway.
Not Sure What Certifications You Have?
