Ancaster Avalanche Bantam Selects Capture Silver at Chedoke Tournament

Starting on the 28th of December, the Avalanche Bantam Selects dove head first into the Chedoke Christmas Tournament. They all played exceptionally well taking control of each game right through to the final buzzer. The Avs started off with a 4-3 win against the Coronation Bengals with goals from Mitchel, Matthew M., Kishan and Patrick. A few hours after the victory over Coronation, the boys and girl played against the Garden City Stars winning 5-4 with goals from Darian G. with 2, Mitchel, Imran and Kessler. On the 29th we played our third game against Clarkson Red. Carrying on from the two previous games we got off to a flying start winning 6-1 and securing first place in ‘Pool A’. Our goals were from Matthew A. with 2, Logan, Darian G. and Patrick who also netted 2.

On the 30th we played our Semi Final game against the Brantford Church Saints. Both teams played hard right up until the end. But the Avalanche came out Victorious with a 1-0 win to push us forward into the finals. The goal was a snipe from Jordan at 4:42 of the 3rd period. The next game was the final against the formidable Brantford 99ers. The final score was 4-1 for the 99ers. Our goal was scored by Matt M. on a penalty shot. Kudos to our Goalies Mason & Andreas who were outstanding through out the tournament. Defensively we were tough to play against with strong performances from Maddie, Ty & Noah. As the tournament progressed our fore checking improved led by Darrien N..

We had a very successful tournament finishing with a record of 4-1. As one of the Coaches said there were 8 teams to start and we were one of the final two.

Ancaster Avalanche Peewee Selects Capture Silver at Chedoke Tournament

The Ancaster Avalanche Peewee Selects battled for the Chedoke Select Christmas Tournament Championship and came away silver medalists!

The Selects opened the tournament with a close 2-1 win over St. Catharines and continued their strong play with a 5-2 win over Coronation and 1-1 tie against Brantford. In the semi-finals, the Selects handily defeated the Mount Hamilton Blues by a 5-1 score setting up a rematch in the championship final against St. Catharines. The final was a close, hard fought contest with both goalies making stellar saves. Ancaster scored with four minutes left in regulation to go up 1-0 only to see St. Catharines tie it up in the final minute to send the game into overtime. Neither team scored in overtime sending the game to a shootout. St. Catharines prevailed and came away with the 2-1 win. The game could have gone either way and the Ancaster Selects should be extremely proud of their excellent play throughout the tournament.

They have played in two tournaments this season and captured silver medals both times, an outstanding achievement.
